W.R. Grace & Co.’s food-grade silica products are primarily grouped into three series: SYLOID®, TRISYL®, and PER KASIL®, widely used in food processing, edible oil refining, nutritional supplements, and other fields.

 Below is an overview of core products and their applications:

I. SYLOID® Series – Multifunctional Food-Grade Silica

Certified by the FDA (21 CFR 172.480) and approved by the EU EFSA (E551), these products offer moisture-proofing, anti-caking, flow improvement, and oil adsorption capabilities.

SYLOID® 63 FP

Features: High porosity, low hygroscopicity, adsorbs up to 2.5x its weight in liquid.
Applications：Nutritional supplements (anti-caking for powdered vitamins/minerals); seasonings (moisture-proofing for salt/sugar/spices).
Compliance：Meets FCC, USP/NF, and Japanese food additive standards.

SYLOID® 244 FP

Features：Multifunctional excipient with moisture-proof, anti-static, and lubricating properties.
Applications：Tablets/capsules (improves powder flow, prevents sticking during tableting); functional foods (carrier for oil/liquid components in solid forms)

SYLOID® 72

II. TRISYL® Series – Silica for Edible Oil Refining

FDA GRAS-certified, designed to remove phospholipids, metal ions, and saponifiable substances for oil quality improvement.

TRISYL® 150 IE

Features：High-purity synthetic amorphous silica (>99.9% SiO₂).
Applications： Enzymatic transesterification (extends enzyme life, produces zero-trans-fat oils); fish oil refining (removes heavy metals/odors).

TRISYL® 300

Features：High adsorption capacity for colloidal nickel and saponifiable substances.
Applications：Post-hydrogenation treatment (removes nickel residues in vegetable oils); biodiesel pretreatment (adsorbs polar impurities).

TRISYL® 450

Features：Optimized for animal fats (e.g., beef tallow), efficiently removes collagen.
Applications:Animal fat refining (improves clarity, reduces odors); mainly supplied to Latin American markets.

III. PER KASIL® Series – Food-Grade Precipitated Silica

FCC-certified, used for anti-caking and flow improvement in food additives and supplements.

PER KASIL® 1450

Features:Low bulk density (0.10 g/cc), high fluidity.
Applications:

PER KASIL® 2000

Features:High hygroscopicity, adsorbs environmental moisture.
Applications:Baking premixes (maintains powder stability); pet foods (moisture-proofing for extended shelf life).

SYLOBLOC® P 05:Synthetic amorphous silica for anti-blocking in food packaging films, FDA food-contact certified (21 CFR 177.1520).
SYLODENT® 753:Low-hardness silica for toothpaste abrasives, compliant with FCC and European Pharmacopoeia standards.

Selection Guidance

Anti-caking/Flow Improvement：Prioritize SYLOID® 63 FP and PER KASIL® 1450.
Oil Refining：Use TRISYL® 150 IE or TRISYL® 300.
Liquid Adsorption：Choose SYLOID® 244 FP or SYLOID® 72.
